We created our family of Urban Initiatives Funds to address the need for financing in neglected urban areas such as inner cities. Our region-specific funds are designed to appeal to regulated financial institutions, as well as tax-exempt institutional investors. They invest in urban areas where we see an opportunity to earn a good return, while doing some good for the community.
We launched the first Urban Initiatives Fund in New Mexico in the fall of 2003. We have since opened a second fund in South Florida.
